Rehabilitation technology is developing in a fast-pacing and ever-changing era. With the increasing emphasis on spinal care and the growing demand of rehabilitation equipment for the disabled, Jockey Club Rehabilitation Seating Service Centre received funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for service revamping in 2019. While retaining its existing rehabilitation seating production service, the Centre launched the Jockey Club Rehabilitation Products Rental Centre, which is Hong Kong’s first one-stop centre of its kind including professional consultation, product selection, rental, delivery service, thorough cleaning with disinfection upon return and repackaging. To further expand its service scope, the Jockey Club Mobile Rehabilitation Seating Service now has an outreach mobile vehicle to proactively promote healthy sitting posture, provide seating assessment and introduce rehabilitation products among members in the community.
Seating Service
The professional team comprises Prosthetist & Orthotist, occupational therapists, social workers and technicians.
Service Introduction
Using advanced computer-aided design program CAD/CAM, the service includes comprehensive and professional assessment, design and production of rehabilitation seating and rehab-aids according to individuals’ conditions and needs, so as to enhance their quality of life by reducing the pain through correcting the poor sitting posture.
Feature
- Rehabilitation seats are customarily made in accordance with professional assessment and recommendation by Prosthetist & Orthotist or Occupational Therapist in order to cater to user’s every special need
- Prevent and correct deformities, and to reduce back pain resulted from improper sitting posture
- Reduce the chance of bedsores by evenly distributing pressure of various body parts
- Cushions are waterproof, durable and easy to clean. All accessories can be handily detached for transportation
Users
- Person with disabilities, elderly and needy in the community
- Persons with the following condition(s) may need to use a rehabilitation seating to improve and maintain good sitting posture:
- Deformed body and/or limbs
- Unstable sitting posture or unable to maintain good sitting posture
- Deteriorating skin condition e.g. redness, pain and / or tear

Rental Service
Service Introduction
To provide those in need a one-stop quality rehabilitation product rental service, from professional consultation, product selection, rental, delivery, return, thorough cleaning with disinfection to repackaging
Feature
- Professional assessment/advice: Prosthetic and Orthopedist or Occupational Therapist will assist customers with professional assessments and consultations in selecting suitable rehabilitation products and commodities
- Flexible rental fee: Rental period and rental fee are calculated on a weekly basis (7 days) to cater to different needs of the users
- Hygiene and safety management: All returned products will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, checked, repaired if necessary, and repackaged so that users can use them without worry
Users
Person with disabilities, elderly and needy in the community included:
- Children with special needs
- General or orthopedic patients discharged from hospital
- Persons whose rehabilitation product(s) is(are) under repair
- Patients with degenerating illness
- Frail elderly
- Persons being nursed at home

Mobile Service
Service Introduction
Improper sitting posture can lead to different degrees of physical strain and back pain. It may cause severe complications which significantly distress sufferers’ everyday life. Therefore, the mobile rehabilitation seating service proactively approaches the community with our outreach vehicle to provide information about healthy back and to promote proper sitting posture
Feature
- Back and sitting assessment: our Prosthetist & Orthotist or Occupational Therapist provide back and sitting pressure assessments as well as consultations to help the public to understand their sitting postures and how to improve their posture
- Products introduction: we provide and explain the use of various kind of back and sitting posture products
- Wheelchair inspection and repair: to elderly and rehabilitation visit service buildings to provide wheelchair inspection and repair service on a contract basis to people in need
- Public education: by means of exhibitions and talks, provide education for districts, corporates, and organisations to raise the public awareness of healthy sitting posture and back care
